Feeling trapped by a chronic health condition? You're not alone, and a new initiative in Vernon is offering a beacon of hope! Living with chronic pain, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, cancer, or any long-term health challenge can feel incredibly isolating. But here's the good news: Living Despite is a group dedicated to helping you reclaim your life, despite the hurdles your health throws your way.
Presented by the John Rudy Health Resource Centre and TLC Pain Management, Living Despite meets every fourth Wednesday of the month at the Vernon Library from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM. These aren't just meetings; they're educational sessions designed to connect you with specialists and, perhaps even more importantly, with others who genuinely understand what you're going through. Think of it as a support network and a learning hub rolled into one.
“We bring in professionals who can talk to us about how they can help us manage our chronic conditions,” explains coordinator Kari Wutzke. “We have brought in physiotherapists, massage therapists, pranic healers, coaches, etc.” This diverse range of experts ensures that you'll be exposed to a variety of approaches and perspectives on managing your health.
For example, the upcoming Living Despite meeting on January 28th features Gillian Boehm speaking about Pranic Healing. But here's where it gets controversial... Pranic Healing, a no-touch energy healing modality, isn't universally accepted within the medical community. Some view it as a complementary therapy, while others remain skeptical. What do you think about incorporating alternative therapies like Pranic Healing into your overall health plan?
Gillian Boehm herself brings a unique perspective to the table. “I have dealt with chronic pain and illness personally throughout my life,” she shares. “I am now in a position to assist individuals through their health journey and provide simple and practical solutions to bring about more balanced mental, emotional, and physical well-being.” Her personal experience adds a layer of empathy and understanding to her approach.
During the meeting, Boehm will delve into the concept of energetic anatomy, explaining how it's interconnected with the physical body. She'll explore how Pranic Healing can potentially alleviate symptoms and even reverse patterns of disease. And this is the part most people miss... it's not just about physical healing; it's about finding inner peace and stillness. The session will also include a short guided meditation and a gentle breathing exercise to help you achieve that.
Living Despite offers a valuable opportunity to connect, learn, and explore different avenues for managing chronic health conditions. But ultimately, the effectiveness of any approach, including Pranic Healing, is subjective and varies from person to person. Have you attended similar support groups or tried alternative therapies?
